Taken on my last trip to Philly. I had started out at the West entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, taking architectural shots. After some time, I began to make my way to the East (Main/Rocky) entrance of the building. I made a stop along the trail that led to the opposite side, admiring the rest of the exterior, took another frame or two. Then I turned around and started walking again when I saw this man in front of me, sleeping. I kinda thought of whether or not to shoot him. I've never shot a sleeping homeless person before. In the end, I did, and of course, I couldn't leave him without giving him some money, so I slowly crept up to him, placed two folded dollars in his arms, and luckily, he didn't awaken.
A beautiful and yet sadly a timeless shot. Full of emotion! I love that the scene is tied together by his yellow t shirt, the plastic bag in his cart and the yellow glow from the sun on the leaves. You cant plan that type of connection in a shot like this, its wonderful.
id be afraid to photograph a homeless person. i dont know what i would say if he woke up and saw me standin there, camera in hand, pointing at him. great shot though, alot of emotion in this shot.
